The Olmsted 38 is a classic, automatic winding, 38mm field watch with a two-layer sandwich dial, 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), screw-down crown, and inner minute track with orange cardinal numeral accents.

The Olmsted 38 takes its namesake from conservationist and founder of landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted – an avid believer in the need of natural public space in society. Olmsted is responsible for designing many of the public parks in the United States; notably, Central Park in New York City, and Jackson Park in Chicago. Throughout a fascinating life, Olmsted pushed for the protection of Yosemite Valley, created the parkway, the integrated park system, and founded the precursor to the Red Cross.

The engine powering The Olmsted 38 is the Sellita SW300. A legendary, Swiss-made, solid workhorse movements customized with our iconic 4-star rotor design – a subtle nod to our hometown of Chicago.

Our stainless steel bracelet sits comfortably on the wrist with a fully articulated link design that gradually tapers from the 20mm solid end links to the 16mm buckle.

The bracelet has 7 removable links and a six position quick-adjust, locking clasp. Yup, that means no tools required to adjust the fit on the fly! The bracelet will fit wrists from 6.2 inches to 9.1 inches (158mm - 231mm).

    Olmsted on Point

    Loving the watch. Usually wear a 42mm so this is smaller than I am generally accustomed, but is a perfect size as my daily driver when I wear suits and for biz casual at work. Clean, simple, in a very positive way. Really enjoying the watch.

    It runs a few minutes fast each week (not the case with an Omega Seamster Diver 300m that I own); assuming this is par for the course with this particular movement but figured I'd ask).

    Get the watch

    Couldn’t be happier with my new Olmsted/Grey/Date….

    Oak & Oscar Olmsted. 38mm, 100-meter water resistance, automatic Swiss moment with 42-hour power reserve, dual-layer sandwich dial, and I even like the color.

    Nearly perfect

    I love how the matte grey dial and orange second hand give the Olmsted a sort of industrial appearance, I love the sandwich dial, and the robust specs. I also really appreciate the field watch influence, but with a contemporary flair and without a focus on warfare. The only thing keeping the watch from being perfect for me is that it's too big. I have narrow wrists and 38mm is the largest watch I wear. (I miss 20th century styles, when men's watches were 30-36mm.) On the Olmstead, it feels like the numbers need to be bigger or the overall watch smaller; as it is, legibility could be better and there's too much empty dial.

    Olmsted 38 Blue Date

    Fantastic. Love the sandwich dial, love the hidden logo that lines up with the second counterbalance.

    I wish the listing showed the rotor, because as a Chicagoan I really like the use of the Chicago stars.
